Events: Connect May Meeting
Connect is the new Youth Leaders’ network, hosted by Solent Youth for Christ. If you do youth work (paid or voluntary) in your local church, this network is for you! Meeting once a term, it will give you the chance to connect with other youth leaders, encourage each other, share ideas, pray together, gain invaluable training, and be inspired in your God-given calling to disciple young people for Christ and reach others for Him!
The May meeting is now on the 16th May ... NOT the 9th ... from 10am to 12 midday
These meetings are being held at Waterlooville Baptist Church, 368 London Road, Waterlooville, PO7 7SY.
Do please let any youth leaders in your church know about these events, encourage them to come along, and let us know how many are planning to come in May, for catering purposes!
At our next Connect gathering we will be concentrating on the theme of ‘Youth Outreach’ – how we might be more effective at reaching young people for Christ.
We will be offering seminar choices, so you can gain a deeper understanding of a perspective of reaching young people that is most relevant to you and your situation.
The seminar titles are:
Turning your outreach youth club from entertainment to evangelism
Tools to put together a short evangelistic talk
Equipping your church youth group to reach their friends
Come along and bring other youth leaders from your church. If 3 of you come from your church, you can cover one seminar each! Look forward to seeing you there

Events: Pray, Play, Say - Spring Term 2009
Equipping Christian teenage sportspeople to pray for their non-Christian sports friends, play sport in a way that honours Christ, and say something of the good news of Jesus.
Portsmouth area group
Dates of sessions for the Spring term 2009:
Mon 12 Jan
Fri 6 Feb – Night of Champions Event*
Mon 9 Mar
Mon 13 Apr
6-8pm, at Paulsgrove Baptist Church, Woofferton Road, Paulsgrove, Portsmouth, PO6 4DW (except Fri 6 Feb)
Bring a Bible (if you have one) and come dressed ready for indoor sport

Events: Pray, Play, Say
Solent Youth for Christ is delighted to be able to announce the launch of Pray, Play, Say – a monthly sports discipleship group for Christians aged 11-18 in the Solent region! This group, in partnership with Christians in Sport, is designed to equip a young person who plays for a sports team (school or club) to represent Christ as they play. We will spend some time together learning from the Bible how God would want us to live for Him as sportspeople, pray for our friends, and play some fun sport together.
If you know of teenagers in your church who play for sports teams, then this group is for them! We want to invest in them to reach their friends for Christ. Every few months we will have an additional outreach event for the members to invite their friends to, where the Gospel will be presented.
We will meet on the second Monday of the month. The dates and times for the meetings this Autumn term are:
Monday 8 September
Monday 13 October
Monday 10 November
Monday 8 December
We will be meeting from 6-8pm, at Paulsgrove Baptist Church, 3 Woofferton Road, Paulsgrove, PO6 4DW.
Young people should come dressed for indoor sport, and with a Bible if they have one.
If you are interested in coming along, then please contact Dave to let him know that you are interested.
Also, we are still looking for one or two more leaders to help run this group. If you have a heart to invest in young people to represent Christ as they play sport, do contact us for how you could be involved.
